Now that summer is winding down, we are settling back into our "chore routine".Within the past few weeks, we purchased a new dryer, making it a matching set with the washing machine that we bought a couple of years ago. When we did this, because of the direction the door opens on the new dryer, I switched the washer/dryer positions.
The other day, I asked my daughter, who will be 13 next week, to take out the clothes in the dryer, and switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer. No problem, right?
A few seconds later, Megan came out and said, "The washer and dryer look exactly the same now."
"Yes," I said, "just look at the buttons- they will tell you which one is which." I was thinking, based on the "water level", "air temp", etc. buttons, my pre-AP child could figure it out.
About a minute later, she said, "Mom, I don't know what all these buttons mean!"
"Megan? Honey?", I said... "Why don't you open the doors to both, and see which ones are wet, and which ones are dry? That might give you a clue."
She turned around, went into the laundry room, and tried this experiment. "You could have told me that first!" she shouted back.
Aahhh... the lessons we have to teach our children... Sometimes they are the ones we least expect to need to teach them :)
