"Rookie" Mistake

Okay, so it's only our second year of organized sports.  Yet somehow, I feel seasoned.  I am a sports mom now.  So to make a mistake like this makes me wish I had the ability to kick my own behind.

I didn't try my son's new baseball pants on him until an hour ago.  We have to be at the GAME in an hour.  They were too big.  Not just by a bit.  They were "he just can't wear them" too big.

I know better.  I know!

So I had to load both boys into the van and go back to the store to get a new pair.  (I rarely take both boys in any store with me alone.  I just don't do it.  It's a migraine headache waiting to happen.)  Thankfully they had several his size and we were in and out.  Not without both boys dancing around acting like total loons.  Have you ever tried to "rush" six and four year olds?  They don't understand the "we need to hurry" concept.

We're back home and ready for the game.  In pants that fit.

What drives me to take chances like these?

Silly goose!

Taking 2 kids to any type of store stresses me out too. They either act like they have no regard to what they've been taught or start this...I WANT THAT! I WANT THIS! WHY CAN'T WE HAVE IT.

So, totally feel ya on this!

Same here... I *rarely* take both kids anywhere by myself. And there is always those times when I knew I should have tried it on earlier... ;)

FINALLY, my daughter, now 13, is old enough to take to the store, and actually be help! We just came back from HEB, and there were a couple of times throughout the shopping trip that I realized I needed something on an aisle we already passed. It made her feel "grown-up" and was a *huge* help to me! We did end up with a 'couple' of extra items (i.e., pink nail polish and chocolate-covered pretzels), but it was worth it!
