Human Services 101

Interesting event today- I took Megan to the Central Freshman Campus for a "Pre-Registration Fair." It gave the incoming students (and parents) an opportunity to meet some teachers, understand how some of the classes work, and ask general questions.

For the most part, it was very informative. Some of the teachers seem like interesting characters (future writing material?), but overall, they seemed nice and pasionate about the subjects they teach.

As usual, I found an opportunity, or should I say, an opportunity found me, to emabarrass my daughter.

We were walking down the hallway, and Megan was pushing Allyson in her stroller.

We stopped in front of a table with a tri-fold on it, titled, "Human Services 101."
I had never heard of that class, so I asked about it.

"It's what we used to call Home Ec," the teacher whispered to me with a smile. "We do some sewing, some cooking, and learn about child development."

Laughing, I pointed to Allyson in the stroller, and said, "We've got the child-development-thing down!"

The teacher laughed, then smiled. And looked at me with a question in her eyes.

"That's my baby!" I told her. It occurred to me that she was wondering if Allyson was Megan's!!

"It wouldn't be the first time," she said.

Megan was totally embarrassed... I don't think she will be taking Human Services 101.

I can just see the look of horror on her face.

Human Services 101? Really. I'm old.
